NGORONGORO WILDLIFE LODGE - SERENGETI - TANZANIA

Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge is strategically perched on the rim of Ngorongoro Crater sometimes referred to as the 'Garden of Eden', affording unbelievable views plunging down over the crater floor, 7,500 feet above sea level.

The Lodge is elegantly built mainly from natural stone and local wood, harmoniously merging with its natural surroundings, and it is provided with panoramic windows that encompass superb views of the Crater’s great bowl.

From its privileged position, all the Lodge’s rooms afford breathtaking uninterrupted views, and the open–air terrace of the Rhino Lounge Bar offers superb panoramic views of the whole Crater.

Ngorongoro Crater (A World Heritage Site) is often referred to as the Eighth Wonder of the World…
A large caldera 600 meters deep, that hosts the most unique ecosystem on Earth, with 20,000 large grazing mammals and the largest concentration of predators on Earth playing a key role in the maintenance of the ecological balance.

Ngorongoro is: 185 km from Arusha, 60 km from Lake Manyara Wildlife Lodge, 145 km from Seronera Wildlife Lodge and 225 km from Lobo Wildlife Lodge. It is bordered Lake Eyasi in the southwest and the Gol Mountains in the north. The Ngorongoro Crater is probably the most spectacular game haunt in Africa and it is also the world’s largest volcanic caldera. The Crater floor is 610m below the rim and 19.2km in diameter, it is mainly open grassy plains with alternating fresh and brackish-water lakes, swamps and a few patches of acacia woodland.

Activities
Perched on the rim of the Ngorongoro crater, at 7,500 feet above sea level (with a 2,000 feet sheer drop onto the crater floor), Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge provides a unique and unforgettable safari experience.

A day trip to Olduvai Gorge can be organized for the delight of those interested in visiting sites where the first evidence of humankind's ancestors’ activities was found. Also, it’s worth a visit to the nearby Laetoli, where hominid footprints are preserved in volcanic rock, 3.6 million years old.

Nature lovers can enjoy several amazing activities such as:
    * Spectacular wildlife watching
    * Photographic safaris
    * Game drives around the crater ground floor, home of some of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhino, and the largest concentration of predators found on the planet
    * Specialized ornithological safaris
    * Walks along the edge of the Crater towards Lake Eyasi

For those anxious to know the amazing culture of local tribes, visits can be organized to authentic Maasai villages, to enjoy a close encounter with these almost mythic cattle keepers and warriors dressed in intense red clothes. Their villages, traditional cattle market and women handicraft groups are visited. And, in the evenings, displays of traditional Maasai dance, song and music performance are organized in the Lodge, as well as wildlife talks, videos and film shows.
