The name originates from the name of the river, Mbalageti River, which can be seen from all angles of the Mwamveni hill, where it is situated. It offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Serengeti plains and the Mbalageti River. Mbalageti Serengeti is a unique safari living experience! It is a spot off the beaten track. The location is tranquil and nature can be enjoyed in all its facets, including viewing the ever impressive migration of the Wildebeests, Zebras, Topi’s, etc.
All the tented chalets have their own privacy and are situated in such a way that both the astonishing view and the immediate surroundings are uninterrupted without interfering with nature (i.e. cutting a tree). Any bushes or trees that might have been in the path of structures were relocated.
Location
The Mbalageti Serengeti is located in the Western corridor of the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. Serengeti covers 14,763 sq km and is contiguous with the Maasai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya. Serengeti National Park is the largest and most famous national park in Tanzania. One of the main attractions is the annual migration of the wildebeest and its large number of lions, cheetah and herds of giraffe and zebra.Entering from the Mwanza-Musoma highway, through the Ndabaka gate (1.5hrs) or from Naabi gate from Arusha side (3 hrs), the drive is a true game experience with a rich wildlife.
Accommodation
• Standard Rooms: - As an option for the budget traveler the lodge offers rooms of standard type. All rooms are beautifully decorated in a modern design for a feeling of comfort and have en suite bathrooms and a small veranda.
• Tented Chalets: - For a true lush Safari experience! Sunset or sunrise, each side of the hill accommodates 12 of the 24 luxury tented chalets. With a structure of local rock and wood, these canvas fitted chalets are the perfect way to relax after a day of game viewing. All chalets have a bathroom with all luxury amenities and are designed with attention to the smallest detail. Pamper yourself in the bath enjoying a spectacular view. The chalets are furnished and finished to make the stay as comfortable, special and memorable as can be. The private veranda with its cooling thatch roof is a private oasis and works as an extension of your bedroom in the wild.
• Presidential Suite: - For the special occasion or just because you deserve it…. With the little extra of everything and a private outdoor bath right in the wild the suites offers the most exclusive way of safari living you could ever imagine. Nature and luxury in perfect harmony in design and comfort is the trademark of the Sunset and Sunrise Suites. Being spacious and with its two en suite bedrooms, lounge veranda with all the luxurious items you might wish for, the suites are the perfect accommodation for the more exclusive safari traveler.
Facilities
Restaurant: - Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are served in the restaurant. Enjoy the finest cuisine with the Serengeti as panorama. The dedicated Chef and his team are ready to serve you meals with influences from both the Serengeti environment and Continental Cuisine.
Pool Deck: - The Swimming Pool is made out of local rocks and is situated on the edge of the hill. With a 360 degree view of Serengeti, the pool will cool you off after a rough and dusty day among the wildlife.
Bar: - The bar situated in the centre of the main building is the natural meeting place and heart of the lodge. This is where you can compare your day’s game experience while being served the drink of your choice. A wide range of both local and imported products are available.
Lounge Loft: - Sit back and relax in the cozy corner on the second floor of the main building. Board games, puzzles, magazines and books are available for all guests.
Welcome Center: - This is the meeting and greeting point for all, as well being the information centre for the Lodge facilities and its services. The Tea Garden serves high tea with a selection of home baked pastries every afternoon.
Shops: - The two ‘dukas’ carry memories for life or gifts for the loved ones at home. Local products, art and craft as well as more luxury items are available.
