Gibb’s Farm is one of the oldest colonial farm-houses in northern Tanzania, built by German settlers in 1929. Located in Karatu, near Ngorongoro Conservation Area, it is charming and set in a tranquil setting overlooking the valley with cottages scattered around the farm-house. It has extensive coffee fields, a dairy and pig farm and acres of fruits, vegetables and herb gardens. They are committed to using only sustainable, organic farming methods.
Enjoy the farm-style meals, afternoon tea and walks through the lush floral gardens. Coffee farm excursions are also available.
Gibb’s Farm has 14 newly upgraded Farm Cottages – each nestled in floral gardens, with private verandah, panoramic views, beautiful garden bathroom and wraparound fireplace. There are also 10 charming Standard Rooms.
Cottages feature rich wooden floors and classic interiors, with panoramic wraparound windows. From the private verandah one can see, the gardens, vegetable farm and Ngorongoro Forest. En suite garden bathrooms have both indoor and outdoor showers, a generous bathtub to soak away safari dust and fatigue, twin hand basins and a separate w.c. A wraparound fireplace heats the bathroom and living area.
Gibb’s Farm is dedicated to creating unique activity programs that enrich the community as well as the guests’ experience. This encourages cultural awareness, historical interest, a connection to nature, while relaxing and enjoying the gentle rhythm of Farm Life.
