On the south west of Pemba Island sits the Fundu Lagoon. It is a remote and tranquil resort accessible only by boat. The resort was created by Scottish fashion designer Ellis Flyte. The natural environment, wooden walkways and sandy paths that lead up to the ‘makuti’ (palm thatch) tented rooms play a great role in creating an idyllic ambiance of tranquility. If you are looking for total peace and relaxation, this is the place to be. There is a feeling of total privacy due to the natural forest that fringes the beach.
There are a total of 18 rooms at Fundu Lagoon. The room types are as follows:
4 of these are beach-side suites. These have individual plunge pools, and lounges.
Generally the rooms are equipped with: – large beds, mosquito netting, Ceiling fan, en-suite bathroom, bathrobes, mini-bar, aromatherapy toiletries, private balconies that overlook the sea.
Although there is a formal dining area, the dinner venue changes every evening. The cuisine is mainly international in style with touches of local flare, reflected in the use of ingredients. As they are surrounded by the sea, seafood plays a big part on the menu.
