The Dhow Palace Hotel was originally the home of a rich merchant prior to becoming a hotel, and the building is over 150 years old. It is rich in history and serves as a meeting point of people and artifacts from all over the world, in a truly Zanzibari style. Walking around the hotel you get the feeling of being in a museum dedicated to furniture, ornaments and pictures which represent all the styles which have been brought to Zanzibar over the years. Traditional Swahili beds and antiques are an integral part of the decor of the Dhow Palace Hotel. It has an open-air interior courtyard, snack bar, pool side restaurant. Watch beautiful sunsets from the rooftop terrace surrounded be the sights and sounds of Zanzibar culture.

Dhow Palace Hotel is located in the heart at 571 Baghani Street in Stone Town, Zanzibar.

History
The original home was built in 1559. Years later it was sold and leased out as accommodation and offices. At the beginning of the 20th century this building was a two storey building. The government nationalised the property after liberation in 1964 and later sold the property in 1987. Eventually, the home was renovated into a hotel in 1993 a a third storey was added to the building. In 2003, an adjoining plot was cleared so the new swimming pool, stairwell and poolside room block could be built, the Dhow Palace Hotel now boast 30 rooms and continues its proud heritage of Zanzibar hospitality.
